I have seen one too many scary movies and would like to see more from slasher flicks to torture porn to remakes to some weird stuff (I like this one the most) Obviously, it's the genre I eat and breath. Part of the reason I love these fright flicks so much is due to its unforgettable characters. Characters that stay with me even after I leave the theater. They are unspeakably weird, visually incredible and seriously creepy.
“I’m every nightmare you’ve ever had. I’m your worst dream come true. I’m everything you ever were afraid of.” – Pennywise
Sadaku from "The Ring"
By far, I consider the most brilliant of all. Imagine, a creepy girl with her hair covering almost the whole of her face with her eyes upside down is crawling out of the well and out through the TV to kill her victims. Can anything be any weirder than a Japanese horror flick?
Michael Myers from "Halloween"
What makes him scary is that he's just any other guy that snapped. He stalks and creeps around. And his walk OMG! A creepy walk at that. His mask amplifies the creepy level and he's seemingly unstoppable.
Hannibal Lecter from "Silence of the Lamb"
He kills his victims in gruesomely creative ways before eating their body parts including the brain. Anthony Hopkins' portrayal of Hannibal Lecter bleeds perfection. He's so effective that he hunts me down to my sleep.
Pennywise the dancing clown from "It"
A clown that grows razor sharp teeth, claws and glowing red eyes. And then, kidnap you and kill you in his evil sewer lair. The clown that haunted my nightmares for years afterward.
The Grady Twins from "The Shining"
Picture this. A pair of twins with pale white skin, popping wide eyes, ready for church dresses and standing in the middle of the hallway with a simple request: “Come play with us, Danny.”
Leatherface from "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre"
Leatherface is completely terrifying. A huge, childlike brute who hacks his victims with his chainsaw and eats them. This big over sized retardo didn't know any better but as for the rest of the family? Some of them did. Regan MacNeil from "The Exorcist"
She's the most iconic and the spookiest girls in the history of horror. Okay, she's an obvious choice. But who was never scared of her? A sweet young girl possessed by a demon that does and say's unspeakable things like hmm... uhm.. no I'm not allowed to say it. Just watch the movie.
Norman Bates from "Psycho"
Just like Regan, there's nothing I can say about Norman Bates that you don't already know. And yet this list wouldn't be complete without him. What's so scary about him is that he looks so normal and before you know it his insanity snuck up on you.
